I was born and raised on Chicago's 'Eastside'. I graduated from St. Francis deSales High School and earned my Bachelor's Degree from Western Michigan University. I like to play hockey and also race sailboats. I've done the 'Chicago Race to Mackinac' for the past 24 years, winning our Section 11 times. Each year I do the race with some great, long-term friends but I must admit that winning always makes it better.

I was diagnosed with cancer in 2018, but in 2020 I went through two stem cell transplants that helped put me in remission. But because of that diagnosis, I'm no longer eligible for life insurance. Luckily, I already had a life policy before the diagnosis. That made a huge difference in my ability to manage during that time, knowing that my family would be taken care of if something bad happened.
